I am shown here, age 10, singing a Chinese song at a children’s performance on the President Cleveland ocean liner during our trans-Pacific crossing in 1956.  The song’s tune was familiar to the band behind me, so they extemporaneously picked up on it just a few notes in and accompanied me the rest of the way.
