Noemí López and three of her five children from the San Diego Tenango village in Nicaragua. Her story of overcoming tremendous hardship and deprivation has been an inspiration to me personally.  She is so articulate that the other villagers regularly choose her to speak for all of them when there are gatherings with visitors.  She is the one who spoke of dreaming with her eyes open now – the quote at the front of the book.
